On Office Romance

I used to think that office romance don’t work. And the reason for this this that you don’t get to concentrate on accomplishing your tasks. You get distracted by the fact that you want to be with him often. You smile at every note or flower left at your desk — and that freaking smile lasts that entire day, and you can’t think about anything else. You don’t get to honestly do what you want since you keep on thinking about what they other person would feel and think. And when you’re in the relationship, all you will ever talk about is work. After watching a movie, your stories will go back to discussing ‘work’ problems, making you feel like you haven’t left the office at all. A date with him becomes a meeting. Your life out of work will become work and your work will become your life. Sooo sucky!

But, after seeing my friend and her blooming romance with a co-worker, I guess, I changed my mind.

So, what do I believe in now? I believe that love can hit you anytime and anywhere. Not all ‘loves’ are distracting and a waste of time. A love can be inspiring. A love can help you strive for better things in life. It can help you achieve goals. If you get to discover love in the office, you can be each other’s support and this will encourage you to keep at it and overcome all barriers. Your limited circle of friends can also be your support group, since they know each of you well.

So, if you don’t believe in office romance, like how I used to see things, try and have an open mind. You may find love in a hopeless rather “office” place.
